Structured answers beat rambling ones, but a mechanical STAR recital sounds rehearsed and forgettable.
Add stakes early: what would have gone wrong if nobody acted? This gives the interviewer a reason to care about the rest of the story.
Show reasoning, not just action. Explain the options you rejected and why — that is the part that reveals judgement.
Close with reflection: what you would do differently now. Senior interviewers consistently rate self-awareness above flawless outcomes.
